This section presents data on voter registration and election results by voting districts, village, age and gender in American Samoa.

A total of 16,102 people registered to vote in the November 2, 2004 election.  However, only 12,079 (75%) of the people cast their vote on Election Day.  Tualauta (District #15) had the most votes cast with 1,929 (16%).  Ituau (District #2) followed with 1,478 (12.2%) votes cast.  Swains Island had the least votes cast with only 4.

In the past three elections, about 70-plus percent of the people who registered to vote voted in the general election.  Manu’a (District #2) had the highest percent of votes cast with 80.9 percent in the 2004 election.  It also had the highest percent of votes cast in the 2002 and 2000 elections.

Over 47 percent of registered voters were between the ages of 18 and 34.  About 9.6 percent were for the 65 and over age group.

A total of 7,686 (48%) males registered to vote while 8,416 (52%) females registered to vote in the 2004 election.  More females register to vote than males in all the elections starting from the 1984 election to the 2004 election.
